The Cost Analysis of our 14-day road trip from Chapel Hill to Miami

We made a 14-day road trip from Chapel Hill to Miami in winter break in December. We visited seven different beautiful towns such as Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, and Key West.  I recorded our daily expenditures and analysed them at the end of the trip. The total cost of the trip was approximately $1,900. Meanwhile, the average daily cost was $136. We spent $1,000 for hotels and it was 53 percent of total costs. The second highest cost was entertainment cost which included ticket fee of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and entrance fee of parks, beaches, and other facilities and shopping.  Cost analysis of the trip I generated a table and a chart to show the cost analysis of the trip. Type Costs % Hotel 1001.70 53% Entertainment 386.37 20% Food &   Beverages 244.10 13% Gasoline 211.96 11% Parking &   Road Fees 61.85

In the last day of our trip, we just only turned back to home. It took almost 7 hours from Jacksonville to Chapel Hill. Therefore, we did not want to visit anywhere else. Southeast USA Road Trip - Day 13: Miami and Jacksonville, FL

Our last day in Miami, we visited the North Beach that was less crowded than the South Beach. While we were going to the North Beach, we saw the luxury residents and neighborhoods of the island which was amused us. Luckily, it was sunny and the ocean was not wavy. Therefore, we could swim for hours. Additionally, Elif found a friend and played with her in sands and water. After swimming on North Beach, we began to our trip to turn back home. Because it was a long trip from Miami to Chapel Hill, we decided stay one night in Jacksonville. Thanks to the rewards of Hotels.com (1 night reward for 10 nights booking) we booked our hotel in Jacksonville in an affordable price.   1. Activities North Beach (Miami North Beach) 2. Southeast USA Road Trip - Day 12: Miami, FL

We spent the entire day in Miami Beach also named The South Beach. We had a chance to swim thanks to sunny and warm weather. In contrast, the ocean was too wavy, and swimming in the ocean was too dangerous. Even we witnessed a sad accident that one guy sunk while he was swimming. The rescue team tried to save him for a long time. I hope he could survive.  We continued our day on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach at night for new year's eve and to watch the fireworks show. However, the show was canceled due to the heavy wind. Therefore, we just made the count down and celebrated the new year.  Meanwhile, both the beach and Ocean Drive was too crowded. I have never seen such a great number of people together since the pandemic began. 1. Activities Star Island Bayfront Park Bayside Marketplace Miami Beach (South Beach) Ocean Drive 2. Southeast USA Road Trip - Day 11: Miami, FL

We began our daily trip to Key West after we took one cup of regular coffee and one cup of hazelnut coffee from Panera Bread on the morning. We went John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, Sombrero Beach, and Bahia Honda State Park respectively. We would enjoy more if the weather was better. It was drizzly and we had to hide from the rain while we were on the beaches.  The sun went down, when we arrived to Key West. Therefore, we made just a quick city tour and visit Southernmost Point of the Continental US. Cuba is roughly 90 miles south of this point in Key West. I think it was super cool to experience.  1. Miami city center includes so many great touristic places and events. Because it was a bit windy on the morning we decided to spent our time in the city. We began our tour with Coral Gables. We wanted to see the Venetian Pool however it was closed. Biltmore Hotel, beautiful houses and Banyan Trees were magnificent. Especially, we loved Banyan trees and the houses on Greenway Dr. Our next stop was Coconut Grove. Luckily, Elif found some coconuts around the coconut trees and we cut them and drank their water :) After that, we visit Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. Southeast USA Road Trip - Day 8: Tampa & Miami, FL

Today, we left Tampa and arrived to Miami. We visited Sawgrass Mills Outlet in North part of Miami which was on our way. We have never seen such a huge shopping center before. Sawgrass Mills Shopping Center contains hundreds of brands such as Versace, Prada, Boss, and Calvin Klein. We also visited Rainforest Cafe in the shopping center that was one of the famous theme cafes. We did not want to stay too long because the shopping mall was too crowded and it was too risky during the pandemic. Our last stop was Wynwood Walls and Downtown Miami at night. Wynwood Walls were full of people. We liked the energy of the street and spent almost two hours on 2nd Avenue. Meanwhile, we realized that a great number of people seem that did not care about the pandemic in Miami. 1. I used Google Travel to make our plan and search important destinations from google. You can find the activities that we plan on the table. Covid-19 Testing at Duke University

I have completed 11 surveillance testings since August 20th. In other words, I am invited Covid-19 testing 11 times in 4 months or I am tested almost every 10 days :) I believe that Duke is doing a good job in surveillance testing. Thanks to this excellent effort, we as students completed the first semester safe and healthy. What is Duke's surveillance testing? Duke is conducting regular surveillance testing of students and other campus community members who do not have any symptoms to assist in the early detection and response for potential COVID-19 cases on campus. So, if you are affiliated with Duke, then you may have a notification email or text message on one morning that warns you about upcoming surveillance testing. After you receive the notification, you can visit one of the test center in the campus and complete the surveillance testing. And then, Duke Human Vaccine Institute conduct the pooled test with your samples. What is the pooled test? It is a kind of testing strate
